Hey guys this project was mid flight before I thought about putting it up. Not to mention I threw the battery tray together outa my scrap bin after I had consumed quite a few beers that afternoon.

Relay fuse box will be completely sealed with electrical grommets. More pics tonight.

Damn I wish I had the skills to do stuff like that! I need a dual battery tray made and it's not going to be cheap.

That looks bloody good, you have all the gear to do that at home or do it at work?

Nice work mate. Ye I made mine to. So simple.. I've sat mine on some rubber washers to remove some of the shock loading on the wheel arch as I've heard a few people who have had there's crack..

Just in the home workshop, little arc welder, couple or grinders. Bench vice nothing special at all. I scored/cut the 3mm plate about 2mm deep in the bends to make it easy as to bend then just tacked the fold.

I wish I took the time to go thru it step by step,

I have to build another for a mate I'll get some templates off that and a step by step, honestly the hardest part is welding. Now days gas less migs are cheap and are dead easy to use for the beginner.

Good idea on the rubber mounts, in a hurry must get to work.

Both the wheel arch inner guards are cracked on the GQ. About 100mm long cracks

Hey mate is there any chance we could see some pics of the cracks? I have four solid mounting points the bracket has no movement in it at all. The only way I could see it cracking the inner guards if the tray it self was flexing or the battery tray was not sharing the load evenly over its fixing points.

Guys Im going to draw the tray up on a4 paper and scan it so be a case of transferring the drawing over to metal and cutting the pieces out. Its a good simple project, start small thing big.

No probs mate. The tray you have made is fundmentally identical to the ARB tray I have in the GQ. Note also that the ARB tray also includes an extended top bar across top of the battery as part of the battery clamp and screws to the quarter panel to help with the weight of the battery.

Lol I must admit I have a pc in the workshop and just behind me is my beer fridge. I had a look over the trays and hour later couple of disks I had the tray knocked up. After about 11 o'clock at night I occasionally feel bad and swap the grinder for a hacksaw.

This box is for everything requiring relays from the firewall forward pretty much. Spotlights, led strips so forth. I'll run a trunk line to the back of the car. I think 8 relays should be enough for under the bonnet :P, well for now. Its much easier to build a electrical system properly from the start the right way.

Looks good mate, nice work.

Note that your LED Strip lighting will not need a relay though at all. they draw a tiny current and any Carling type switch will carry that current with ease. Most switches are at least a 10amp rating and the LED flexible strip lighting is no where near that. Just fuse it and switch it no probs. If your talking about an LED Light bar then obviously a Relay will be needed but flexible LED strip for you awning or under bonnet linghting will not need a relay.

looks tidy mate.

I really like the fact you painted in white.... it's funny how most times people would use black more often.

I know from now on I will be using white.

Would also like to see your $5 crimper mate..... thanks for sharing.

Hay mate. Nice finish. A small note though the vacume canister which is behind your relay box, fits nicely under the fuel filter. And you can use the original hoses, you just have to re configure them. Or you can buy it cheap..
Just gives you more room in the area

Cheers mate, makes sense its just a bunch of elbows. Be easier to run all the cable once I start running it. I just got to go buy some terminals for crimper then I'll get pics up
