Well as the title says I've installed a set of ba/bf xr front bucket seats to my gq so here's abit of a write up on how to do it.
http://i1077.photobucket.com/albums/w480/graham091/8EC6F010-2D90-4EBA-ADC0-208D9C3F8F01-12449-00000446BA512156_zps70a5e36c.jpg

First off all get the xr seats and remove the original rails these are not needed.

Then remove the seats from the gq and remove the rails from seats I put the rails back in so I could work out the hights of the rails.

The outer rail needs to be raised 25mm I used abit of shs

Then notch the shs to suit the rail and drill holes to Match

Then drill a hole in the original bracket to suit the xr seat

http://i1077.photobucket.com/albums/w480/graham091/6781779F-21C2-4F97-8D6D-54CF62E83043-14013-000004DD36EB5838_zps469ccab8.jpg

Then you need to modify the inner rail as its about 50mm to short I just made a plate to fit the full length of rail
http://i1077.photobucket.com/albums/w480/graham091/1CB6421B-BCB8-4157-9F2D-4548260FA463-14013-000004DCE6408141_zps96903387.jpg

Then I attached the plate through the original real hole and drilled a new one to suit in the plate then you have all the holes were u need them for new seats.

Then we come to the seats them selfs when I put them in they were touching the pillar you could modify the rails to move over about 30mm but I did something different I swapped the seats around so iam using the passanger side for drivers and so on then you have enough room for all the adjusters of the seats

To make the seats look right remove the plastic panels and swap them around

Then drill this one out 30mm so the adjuster fits

Than bolt the seat down and ur done

I still haven't done the passanger side but should be simaller to the drivers but ill post some pics if any things different

Enjoy the comfort

Nice work.

Was the finished sitting position at a similar height to the original seats?

Nice work. And clever thinking with the swap over..

If you don't mind me asking what sorta price did you pay for the pair?

Awesome job mate, it's a mod I want to do eventually. I reckon they are so much nicer than the Commodore seats. There is another write up by member Great Southern Camping of the same install.

The seats look good. in NSW, do you need to get the vehicle checked for the mod? I'm interested to find out how the seats feel on rough terrain.

Certainly do mate, I don't think any state in Australia allows you to change from standard seats without getting it certified by an authorised certifier.

Legally if you pull your rear seats out it needs to be inspected!

What was the width of the seat rails on the XR seats? The GQ rails are 400mm apart width ways, What width are the XR rails?

If I do this I need to move rails back a bit to gain more leg room, i'm 196cm tall and leg room sux in the GQ.

Fantastic write up, I really need to do something like this to my truck, her drivers seat has seen a lot of use and is no longer comfortable and has sagged.

Has anyone done something like this in a shorty and was still able to slide the passenger seat forward to get people in and out the back easy enough?
