Gday guys. Ive got a 2006 Pootrol coil cab ute which is currently completely stock suspension wise. I want to put a 2" suspension lift in it, but at the same time i want it to have above average flex when offroading. Ive got a mate with the same model 4wd with a 2" lift and 6" shocks, but i think that is pushing it slightly too much. I want my 4wd to remain in a 100% roadworthy condition. Can anyone suggest what length of shocks and other suspension parts would benefit the 4wd as much as possible when offroading yet still keeping it legal ? eg. sway bar disconnects(not sure if they are legal or not though?) Im a firm believer in "do it once, do it right", hence why im trying to do as much research as possible before starting. any help would be greatly appreciated =)
cheers

I though you had asked this question twice before on here? Are you waiting for the answer you want to hear? The best way to go with shocks is to take measurements then select a shock from there. If you want better flex you gonna need coil drop outs in the rear, flexy coils and bump stop mods. Then as above take measurements and buy the appropriate shoocks. As for legalities best to talk to the local authorities about what you can and can't have.

Ive been waiting for more specifics, such as the things that you have listed here like the coil drop outs. So thankyou =)

If you are going to keep the original shock mounts you need to put it on a flex ramp or a forklift and flex it up. You need the compressed and extended lenghts of the shocks you want. try for 1/3rd up travel and 2/3rd down travel measure it against the distance between your shock mounts up and down travel.
If you have too much droop on the standard length rear lower control arms, the arms will be at such an angle that when you apply power to that wheel it will try to drive under the vehicle. From this there is alot of pressure put on the chassis mount and it will actuall lift the vehicle. This will be more noticable when doing hill climbs. It will want to flip over backwards in some situations. In other situations it will just pig root because you are struggling to find traction

This is pretty specific mate from your other thread.

There's still a few more things i "need" to get/do to finish my car off first ,before i can be looking at any sort of major suspension upgrades im afraid Matty :p
