Well with some discussion of a calendar abouts, and AB's approval the wife and i have decided to take it on for the 2014 year.

The way id like to do it is to scope peoples thoughts, with a simple yes ill buy or sorry no poll..
once its deemed worth perusing well take it to the next step..
I intend on running a comp. Everyone will have the opportunity to submit 3 (small) photos into the comp thread with numbers from one to whatever, which after a designated time will be closed, and members will pm me their top 3 pic choices.

The top 12 will receive a page each, and asked to do a brief write up of the location and car with mods for the page. The photo with the most votes will get a background cover shot, pic of their month for display and their copy free..
We will also run a further 6 smaller pics on each month so more vehicles are included..

Now i will be charging a little above cost price, but all profits will be put into the forum. Price will be around $45 each. i am hoping its less than, but it all depends on volume.. but a rough brake down of that $45 is
$25 for the calendar
$2 postage each to aus
$10 postage to you
$10 donation to the forum to keep the awesome place kicking..

To be included are the following dates (to be built on as progression is made)
-Holidays, school and public per state
-Big trips planned before printing, meet in the middle for example
-well known tracks opening and closing dates
-birthdays if people wish..

We can't add to much to the calendar itself due to box size restrictions but we'll add as much as possible..

The biggest note i need to make is this is a ONE ORDER ONLY RUN.. ill require payment upon ordering and will be only ordering enough for interested parties.. Maybe a few spare, but not heaps as its coming out of my pocket..

So lets have some fun with this. I'll move to stage 2 when we have a strong interest..
Cheers

Good idea, and I WILL buy one.
I would maybe do a colleague of patrols per page, that way you don't just have 12 sold calendars cos their cars are in it.
If you have say picture page split in 2, with 9 small patrols on one side and a half page patrol with your write up on the other.

Some people might say "If my cars not in it, I might not buy it"

$40 might also be a bit steep for a calendar.

Great idea and good on ya for supporting the forum.

I would buy one.
Not allowed to have calendars of ladies waring little in provocative poses so pictures of the best 4WD's would be the next best thing.

I agree with Megomonster that more than one Patrol per month may be a good idea, will buy it either way though.

Yep, I like Megos idea, one big pic and several smaller pics if different rigs on each page......... Maybe smaller pics could of those owners who want a calender?????

Thanks mega. I was thinking 12 so there is plenty left for each year.. also makes it a bit cleaner. And each car had a feature like feel about it..

After some rough pricing its around $30 a calendar, but postage etc ontop.. and a small donation to the forum..

Hopefully the poll will be up soon.

This is just a rough price to cover cost, postage and a little ontop to help the forum.

The hard facts are even if I was to use vista print (cheapest by far but American) its $25 a calender. $2 postage if we get 100. Postage to you guys, $8 and then I was thinking $10 per calendar for the forum. Doesn't take long to rack up $45.

Sure its not cheap, compared to the el-cheapo newsagents one with little fluffy ducks and puppies.. but this is a one of a kind run.. something to hold onto, something to admire and showcase our pride and joy.
imo $45 is a fair price.. you put more into fuel for one day out..

Look at it this way.. at $45 you get a years worth of enjoyment, 12c a day..
I'd put my left testi that everyone here would not bat an eye lid at fueling the bus up for a days play, at possibly $100..
Also this is helping the behind the scenes running of this awesome forum..

And its a bit of fun, a little comp, and you get the chance to showcase you pride and joy..

We made a change, 12 features and 6 smaller pics down the side of the page. So 80 vehicles will be in it. 12 features..
Like I mentioned earlier, there will be a 2015 and beyond (as far as I know..) so always next year to feature..
No single car will feature 2 years in a row, to share it around..

Didnt you need a run of 1000 to make it cost effective?
I know it was explained to me earlier but I still reckon if people knew their pic was going to be in it then they'd buy one guaranteed.
Yep it's probably hard to squeeze too many pics in there but every pic of a trol is virtually a guaranteed sale.
Anyway give us a final price at the end of the month, I might buy one to make you happy lol

1000 was the minimum to give the local companies a chance at the run, but due to such small number it has to go OS. The price on first page is MAX.. I can't see it being any cheaper though..
as I said I was hoping to donate a bit of each to the forum.. sorta like an investment into our future well being.. :p or royalties.. as AB's forum logo will be front and center..

I think your theory though on every pic is a guarantee sale is a bit floored but. I've stated that there was going to be 80 pics... So shouldn't I have 80 orders, at least.. then the odds of getting yours for free... ?

Like I said, its the cost of half a tank of juice. Maybe .70c a day...
Imo its a custom design item made by the members for the members so I think the price is justified..
It will be a quality item.. not home made..
I know of few who talked it up in other threads who haven't acted... So its seams it was all talk..

The lack of action was down to the calendar being too expensive, not because folk couldn't be bothered...... Get the price own, then you would have had more interest
