George it's one thing for you to do some tracks in dry conditions with your tyres but in the wet you'll be going nowhere fast.

Yeah george in all seriousness, you will last about 20m on your tyres on a wet track mate. If the tracks are gravelly then you will be fine, if they are muddy Do Not Enter! It will end very Badly mate!

For real 4wding a think I much prefer the GQ but if I was to build a long distance tourer I would go the GU... only because its like driving a car??

Overall still prefer the GQ

healy
4th May 2013, 11:10 PM
The gu is a more superior rig I've had the Q it was great but when you have the same equipment the GU is a much better rig to drive on and off road only benefit I see with th Q is its cheaper on replacing parts

Just get an OEM or Ryco air cleaner Healy.
As for the U vs Q debate. Keep it to the one thread. I can feel the annoyances in some peoples posts about this debate, some people are getting their back up about comments and are subtly replying in a way it not too nasty. I feel like I'm in the P4X4 forum reading all this.

The KandN filter is washable and if you consider washing it rather then replacing it, it works out a bit cheaper in the long run, nut to mention they flow more air then the stock ones!!

Its the best part of half a day to wash a K&N properly. I have 2 so I can just swap them out. Come the trip thought I will be running paper filters

Thats true too Bene, you could wash it on your day off or run a spare filter while it dries!

Those filters are not real suitable for the 3ltrs apparently. Some have said they oil up the MAF. But having said that I am keen to try one myself. If I stuff a maf, I have another 30 sitting here on my shelf... :)

That is true that people oil their MAF. BECAUSE they do not follow the cleaning instuctions properly. It take 20min to clean a very dirty filter, a couple of hours to dry. 10 min to oil and another few hours for the oil to soak in and the excess to run off cleaning the excess off with a rag.

Also Mark the OEM and Ryco filters are oiled but you only need to lightly oil the KnN.
