I don't think a patrol can be compared to a landcrab

I'll stick to my old skool muscle car GQ :)

Maybe when I'm old and grey I might downgrade to one of those newer soccer mums cars

Interestingly, I went on a Desert drive on Friday with a long term Lexus LX570 driver who happened to be driving the Y62 on the day. (He's seriously capable on sand).
I could see that he was having a lot of fun with it (Nissan UAE lent it to him for the event). I took the opportunity to ask him what he thought of it.
He was quite impressed and said that it was way more powerful than the Lexus, seemed to handle wel and was also quite luxurious.

as someone in the thinking of an upgrade in the next few years, thanks for that Cuppa

the more I am reading about the Y62 the more it seems to stand out as a good all round Tow / Play vehicle

I drive A LC 200 for work sometimes.....I like them..if I wasn't such a Nissan patrol freak I reckon that'd be what I would get.....fuel economy towing a nearly 3 tonne van at 120 still sitting around or under 12lt/100km..

Don't think so. My mate's been down this road. Wanted to fit a D4D V8 from a 76 series to his GU. Physical / clearance issues from memory.
I think the 200s have the same engine, except it's twin turbo and much more beefier? Someone correct me here if I'm wrong I don't know toyotas much .

Interesting how price listed is for a base GX LC and top of line Ti'L Patrol. Looks like another bias article

That article is a very old one now.

However, dunno that much has changed apart from a handy drop in petrol prices.

yes you are correct the 70s all have a single turbo and different tune ,
whereas the 200s has the Bi or twin turbo

Cheapest 200s being the GXTD V8 is $78,165 plus orc
top of the range Y62 being the Ti-L is $114,490 plus orc
Thats a lot of petrol tickets

Again, why go bottom 200 and top Y62?

You can get the patrol so much cheaper than that.

What the comparison should have had them doing, is comparing them where they can be compared. Both of the vehicles seem directly aimed at the old grey nomad market. So, a comparison should be using the top of the line models from both. Here's the tests:

Towing at 3,500kg
Parking in a shopping centre
Fuel consumption at 80km/h
Resale value after 5 years
And a test to see what happens after being washed 3 times a week for 5 years.

Todays prices from a steeler without any haggling - over the phone. Ti-L $76.9k ST-L $60.8 and plenty of stock and choice of colours and all 2013 make with 2015 plate
Now do your comparisons!!!

There is no comparison, totally different vehicles with the only similarity being their size. All else has no comparison and heck "Some things don't matter much and most things don't matter at all"".
LC people wont change and Patrol people have the smile!! cheers

ummmmm
most people on the Caravan Forums I am on are saying that towing anything over 2t they are getting between 20-26l/100
which was comparable to my TB42 on Gas.........

I think the dash readout is very very inaccurate in your work 200..............

Well it's probably as accurate as a ultra/scan gauge before its calibrated.

You don't have to go far for the truth!!! Towing a 3 ton van with a Y62 19-23l/k. All to do with wind direction with my high and wide off road caravan. No van at 100-110k/h 12-13l/k. Mixing urban and country 14-15l/k. That's me driving reasonably conservatively though. With a 400bhp donk put your foot down and 0-100 in 6.6 seconds WOW I wonder if you use more fuel then??? Why does everyone go back to fuel consumption?? Gee I thought build quality, ride, lack of cabin noise, smooth easy parking, no roll on corners and just plain driving pleasure should rate more. cheers!
PS I think "Preacher's 12k/l is without the van!!!"

yeah I know....I see toyo has dropped their prices for the cars made in japan(under the free trade agreement) but Nissan has not yet started.another goal for Toyota.

just asked the boss's old man and yes I told a big whopper..towing his van on a recent trip 13 000km he averaged 18.1lt/100km..
