Can anyone suggest a good set of driving lights that won't cost me the earth?

Ebay. buy a cheap set and convert to HID and your on a winner.

I use lighforce for spotlighting. A mate has a pair of copies on his Cruiser that are quite impressive and a lot cheaper. Make sure the wiring is up to the job.
