Hi I'm new to this forum and i'm trying to by a 2004 onwards GU Ute
just trying to figure out the different options from the 2
i know the ST has power windows, power antenna, 2 seats
dose the DX have manual locking hubs only and the ST has auto locking hubs
is there anything else?
i'm trying to work out if i should save the money and buy a DX

Any info would be great

Thanks, Nathan

As far as I'm aware all utes have manual hubs.
DX gets vinyl floor (easy to clean) where ST has carpet.

I'd get a DX myself, less to go wrong.

Can't go wrong with the DX, as Tony said less to go wrong and break

Nathan, buddy.

You've asked the correct question. lol

I am the proud owner of an ex Telstra 2005, 4.2 TDi DX ute, with the pod on the back. In the back is a 8.5lt hot/cold water sink that heats up in about 30mins with quite hot water, 1 x small flouro on the inside of each side of the pod. 2 x spare wheels on the back. It came with a 2inch lift, dual batteries, bull bar, IPF spotties.

All I need to do is to deck the pod out for creature comfort. It's big enough to fit a double bed matress in it.

I bought it from a car yard and from what I can see, all they did was wash it.

As somebody has said, it's a 'hose out' model. Vinyl floors, manual windows, ,manual locking hubs, 3 seats (driver bucket pass bench) - having said that, I believe it's only only a 2 person vehicle as the passenger in the 'middle' interferes with the gear changing. Dual fuel tanks too. Main + 90lt, sub + 80lt (i'm pretty sure), winch, towball and rear steps. Manual aerial, too
Because it's an ex govt vehicle, it's really OSH friendly and has been set up specifically to go to remote areas and manned by one person.

It's gunna probably be a hard decision, but you have to work out your wants and needs, what mods do you want to do, what each vehicle has. Remember, in most states, more than a 2" lift is illegal unless you get it certified.

I'm absolutely over the moon with my set up and get envious of the 'bling' mods others have done, but it boils down to your wallet. Take things slowly and you should be all right. Do your homework before you touch it (either one), please.

Got through the whole thread, there's quite a few pics for ideas, too.

Take care out there.

DX is cheaper to fix when water gets into things

That's right Matt. It's the hose out model, and not too many electrics to worry about.

DX all the way like everyone mentioned above.

Simple, easy to clean, less electrics.
