View Full Version : Expression of interest... Victorian Easter long weekend meetup

Winnie
31st January 2013, 09:39 PM
Well well not even a week after our last meetup and I'm already so keen for the next one that I think it's time to start planning? Would many people be free for this long weekend?

Public holidays are Friday 29th March, Saturday 30th March and Monday 1st April.

I'll have to check with the boss but should be able to get Thursday off and head up early Thursday or even late Wednesday?

Location? I don't know. I suggest Talbotville but I've never been there so dunno what it's like, I know tracks like Billy Goats Bluff and Blue Rag etc... are all very close by. More than happy for others to suggest places too, could pick the most popular and have a poll or something.

Looks like we might even have a celebrity guest... Growler!!!!

Nah mate it would be a bloody pleasure! Infact the trip is sounding like a winner already.

I put up a trip to Loveday with my fob for Easter but not much interest so might cancel it. If I do then this trip is seriously looking good!

I have been invited to a broken Hill but not decided yet

Apple was too arrogant to stick with Google maps and so went out and made their own mapping system that is flawed. They were talking on the radio about a particular national park near mildura and how people had to be rescued on 6 occasions because of apple maps.

Aaaanywayyy...... Sounds like another meetup that I'll have to live vicariously through you guys:-P

Way too many people who don't drive take to the roads for Easter.
I'm the same as BA the weekend before or after and I'll have the
Murray to myself.

Only problem is its 2 days driving so a three day weekend is a bit hard. (12hrs-13 each way to Dargo)

I have been thinking about doing that for quite a while....
I have a feeling though, that they close it over the summer months. Fire risk is too high with the heat and saltbush.

I think its just the Ngarat national park thats closed in the Summer months. But if it opens on the 1st of April we would probably be ok. If we were to start north and head south that is
You can only go nth-sth from pinaroo to Mt Gambier. Ive only ever done from Pinaroo to the Mount. so unsure what nth of there is like. I'll research what i can if you guys are keen. We could meet in Mildura??

Here are a few pics from Njarkat border track about 10 years ago, have been there several times but they have blocked off and bypassed some of the interesting bits but still good fun.
Some good sand hills with dogs legs in them that cause you to loose a bit of momentum and can be a challange when dry.

Bloody hell Chris. A lucky boy. Worst stuff ever for dogs. My last one, a heeler ate half a box of that stuff when he was seven. He was lucky too.... About 2500 bucks later and he lived another 7 years till he was 14.
Horrific stuff though mate. Sorry to hear you had to go through that.

Because it looked delicious? I don't know maybe I should ask him? Don't know where he got it from either, we certainly don't have it, must have been a neighbour. He had to have surgery today. All good though as he is now fit as a fiddle.
The bloody vet though....... he's due for his desexing in two weeks, I asked if they could do it now while he's already in surgery..... no he's too young they say. Bastards......
