Hi guys. I am part way threw installing my second battery to the passengers side of the vehicle and I have a small issue.
I've made my own bracket and its sitting within mm's of the wheel arch but the battery when in the cradle is sitting 10-15mm higher than the original.
Is this a common thing with bought cradles aswell or am I missing something?
If not could I bother you guys for a pic of were its mounted?
Here is mine in the td 4.2

Hey Kal - is it causing an issue or are you just trying to get them flush? Looks good to me?

It's not hitting the bonnet, but will be touching the insulation.
Probably not a huge issue, I'm just wondering if the arb etc mounts are lower, and if so how??

tray is clooser to the motor and with the curve of the wheel arch will drop it a bit more (further out from overflow bottle)

See you use a wet cell battery ,Best IMO messy but better, anyway if $$$$'s are there and you like them seach for side post style like the optima yellow or Blue.
you can then use that battery for camp duties in a battery box, but the short answer is Mythird is right, bit more &arting around but....................?????

Use penny washers /mudguard washers or it'll tear a huge hole out of inner guard

Yea wet cell all the way. They take the most beating and bounce back..
I've put my base on thin rubber blocks with mud guard washers either side of wheel arch.

How close to the motor do the commercial holders sit? I don't want it to close to the exhaust or I'll fry it...

If the terminals are touching the heat insulation I would be worried the battery is too high and may short out due to bonnet flex etc if you hit the gnarly stuff.
One of the guys in my Club had that exact issue.

You might also get leakage thru the heat insulation if it gets wet.

I'd be thinking of;
mod'ding the tray,
using a lower profile battery albeit you may have to scarifice some capacity, or
putting an electricaly insulated barrier over the terminals and keeping an eye on how much if any the flex affects the clearance

Is it possible to use the STD battery position to mirror off.
Like would a LH version fit the RHS, you know what I mean

Hi TD, yea I'm only 5mm off the original spot.
I guess ill try lower the mount so its near on touching the guard.
And I will be using terminal covers, even on the original battery
