I'm surprised they didn't do a engine, gearbox and diff oil change whilst they were at it.

Umm - is it just me or either they have modified the axles or a touched up job. How can you take the nuts off a spinning wheel? Or is it just right wheel drive! :D

I'm curious as to how they have modded the diffs, as open diffs would send the power to the wheels in the air, being that they have less resistance.

And there is a better way of doing it. I will try and refind the vid

There are several top quality tires available that can get you back and forth on your cross continent journey. Without knowing your exact needed tire size allow me to suggest the Continental ExtremeContact DWS. Amazing quality tire that can be used year round in all weather conditions. Eats up the snow, but is perfectly competent in the warmer summer months as well.

Open diff makes torque equal. But that's almost zero because the wheel in the air cannot transmit any torque so the other wheel will also get zero, and the car will stop.
But if the wheel in the air is stopped there is a lot of torque, the other will get half of the torque the engine provides (multiplied with gear ratio and axle ratio) but with double the speed.
So this is possible with handbrake only on the wheel in the air, is easy to adjust brake shoes lose on the other wheel, or disconnect the cable.
- or locked rear diff with no axle on left side
