Hey guys, I recently went on a bit of a trip from Kalgoorlie along the coast an back up to kal, Now im going give a little trip report on it as i found it hard to find much on these spots when i was trying do research on it my self. We left on the 3/1/13-9/1/12 now i was driving a td42ti Gu patrol ute, And my mate was in a hilux pretty much standard form.

Day 1
We meet up at Bp just out of kalgoorlie for a 5am depature, We were soon on the road and heading to balladonia, We arrived there at about 9am had some brekkie and abit of a chat, We were soon on our way again heading 83km east for the turn off to Toolina, We arrived there and turned off we soon come across and old bore and a sign saying " Toolina cove" Now we turned to the left the way the sign was pointing but my Hema was saying we need head the other way, So we pulled up and i had come to the conclusion locals must have swapped the signs around to make it harder access for people to find ( Being a surfer we also used to do this to stop townies finding some of the spots) So we followed the track Hema was saying, It was all good until we came to a dead end we drove around for about 30 mins trying to find if the track was heading anywhere else but it wasnt so we turned around and headed back for the sign, Now we turned off at the sign an followed it around it joined back up the the track on hema after about 10km, The track itself at the start is very open an easy going until it turns into think bush land, I do not recommend this track if you like your paint work, Its a very slow track 1,2nd gear the whole way and really over grown. It took us about 7hrs to get from the main rd to pt culver. Now when you start heading to the end of the track there is a option to turn left or right, Now hema was saying turn right but the left hand track was looking like it could cut alot of time out of the trip so we went left, Wrong track wasnt a short cut at all it just took us to cliffs were we camped for the night. We finally made camp for a well needed beer on the cliffs over looking Pt Culver

Day 2
We woke up to an awesome sunrise, Had a feed an back tracked it to the main track again, From that point is was prob another hour or so until we hit the entry to Pt Culver, We dropped tyre pressures right down and headed on down the hill, Which was an easy run thanks to the rubber matting with a small drive to the beach, We finally got on the the beach where we started are run, By this time the wind had picked up so we decided not to fish an keep on trucking down to calmer waters, We meet a few espy locals down there that were haven a good run with mulloway but they were packing up an getting out of the wind, We spoke to them and they let us know there is a few turn offs to get you off the beach but the whale bone turn off is the easiest so we just cruised on down to the whale bone an turned off. The beach driving was pretty easy but towards the end there is alot of weed so be careful, We got to wattle camp but that wasn't interesting at all so we headed on down to isralite, The track is in pretty good condition compared to what we hand been driving in, We arrived at isralite and to tell you the truth it wasnt very nice at all, Full of seaweed, Windy an really wasn't that impressed. We had lunch and headed down to Pt Malcom where we camped for the night. It was much nicer with some awesome camping spots. We bumped into one chick down there that hadnt seen anyone down there for 4 days i really thought it would have been packed! Caught a few flathead an a couple of rays.

Day 3
Woke up to another amazing sunrise, I fished for a few hours then we packed up and headed off hoping to make Mt Pasley, We turned on the road taking us to Poison creek rd when i stumbled along a turn off to the left, I thought fuck it why not one of these tracks has to be the coastal track to Pasley, So we turned off and followed it along some amazing coastline, We got a beach we followed it along to the end until there was no more tracks an we had to turn around, It was all pretty easy driving but we were disappointed, So we back tracked to the main road and continued on our way to Posion creek. It was a few hours later an i could see Mt Pasley, We got to a t section with a sign saying 41km to posion creek rd and a turn off to the left, I thought that had to be the track to Poison so we went down there, The first few Kms were nice open tracks until it turned into the most overgrown track you will ever see in your life. Def not a track for people who like paint on there car. We finally hit the first beach and go through easy. You have to drive over a few rocks at the end then you climb a small dune but its pretty easy drive up. You follow the track for about 2km along the top of the dunes until you hit a small beach. We were excited it had to be the track so we drove on to the beach to both be instally bogged. We hadn't had any trouble on any other beach so far so we were abit off it, We droppe dour tires down to about 10Psi this beach was soft. Dan went first in the hilux and thank fuck he did he got about half of the beach an was super stuck. I moved the patrol to higher ground an went over to give him a hand after about 2 hours we finally got him to higher ground and we knew we couldn't cross this beach, The next thing was trying get up this bloody dune we had drivin down. Theres no run up for so Dan got about 1/4 of the way up then winched him the rest, Then i got about 1/2 of the way up and had to be winched out. By that time it was getting dark so we made tracks and camped just off the first beach in a shelted cove. There is a good tree to winch off and many people have you can see the marks, One of the locals said he has buried railway sleepers in the dunes to get him up.

Day4
We woke up feeling a little sore after spending all day digging, winching, maxtraxing and sore to ourselves no more short cuts, So we made a b line straight for Poison which i know pretty well, We got there spoke to a few locals about the adventures we had and they explained alot to us, But did think we had balls for doing that beach. We entered poison and straight away had to help out a few guys who werent haven a good time, Blown tyres, fridge had blown up, etc etc so we helped those boys on there way and set up camp for the day, The wind picked right up again so we made camp in a sand dune to get out of the wind, With very little fishing done we decide the next day we would pack up and head to the duke of new orleans.

Day5/6
We settled for a much more protected spot at the duke, We set up camp an relaxed for a few days before returning to kal.

Couple of things i learnt

If you drive to espy first and take fisheries rd all the way to Isralite then follow the tracks to culvers, It will save you about 3hrs getting to culver and alot less damage to your car, Just a few more Kms thats all
Get a winch!
Dont do these tracks alone its very isolated out there
Fish Culver no matter how windy, Im kicking myself we didnt fish there
Patrols rock!!!

Mate great write up the old man use to have a farm up on Parmingo road so we would do day trips to Mt Ragged and to Posion Creek when I was a young bloke.
Glad you got out to see some of the most spectacular coast line and country in Australia.
