I use one of these 1500 lumen ebay specials... This is a link to same one on a US site which is $60 but I know I got is for $30 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Romisen-RC-T6-CREE-Q4-1500-Lumens-LED-Flashlight-US-/130415229814?pt=US_Flashlights&hash=item1e5d5a7b76&_uhb=1

I've had it for years now and it kicks arse....I only ever only use 1 led setting.. I have 2 sets of batteies(rechargeable) and they last about 6 month each set with limited use

barreries were another 10 bucks with re charger.

Could look at something like this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/KEYGOS-Z16-1600-Lumens-CREE-XML-XM-L-T6-LED-Zoomable-Flashlight-Torch-SET-/300621934546?pt=AU_Sport_Camping_Hiking_Lamps_Torc hes&hash=item45fe76afd2&_uhb=1#ht_4930wt_1111

G`day Pete
I`ve had a maglite for over 20 years and it`s still going strong but i`m changing the globe to their led system as it eats batteries with the old globe system. After 20 years of harsh conditions it`s still water proof and works as if it was new. Mind you there are plenty of other choices out there today.

LED lenser P7 . on ebay for around $60. great quality , or look at there headtorch the H7 around $75 . I have both and am very happy with them .

Agree with boots, I have many torches I use for hunting and the p7 wins for its ease of use and the fact it uses aaa batteries that last a long time .

Mag lights are so behind!!!

I would also agree with the couple of comments above. Head torches have come a looooonng way and super bloody bright. You can get adjustable beam which is pretty cool.

With the head torches I still only use the Chinese made cree lights and they do the job for around $5 each.lololol

The mini mag has a led kit from Jaycar worth looking at. but 6 x d cell batteries is over kill. Get on Ebay plenty of great led torches
but I'd be going the P7 led Lenser ,you wont be sorry, plus they focus

Sorry but whoever said that it is 16,000 lumens is telling fibs. We have LED flood lights at work that are around 12,000 lumens and use 150W of power. 1600 easy but 16,000 no way

Hey Kris we haven't told you yet but you need to carry a trailer with 18 heavy duty batteries on it to keep it going for an hour, but the head torch bit is great!!!!

Another alternative could be those little round battery operated led lights with a small magnet on the back. They sell for around $10 at most auto shops, I think. Brilliant for those quick, easy, situations.

I've also got a couple of portable, solar powered, lights. Last quite a while - well, this time of year from sunset until I go to bed.

Agree that LED is here to stay and may be the future!

I buy all my torches off Deal Extreme. Every once in a while you get a dud and they lost an order on me once, but I've got a compact ~1000lm unit that runs off a single 18650 rechargable battery and it's an absolute gem. Have another couple of LED units that run off AA's and they are fantastic too.

Have a couple more on order at the moment.

Well there are many torch lights availble for camping and other works but i think the fenix is the best brand which have only the quality torch lights. Because I have a big collection of torchs. You can say its my hobby. There many good torchs availble in $100, my favorite of them is Fenix TK15 337 Lumen 215m LED Flashlight Rechargeable. Its brightest light give you the clear view of dark areas. hope you like too. here is the photo of torch for you guidence.

Head torches are great (even if it makes you look like areal knob wearing one). For around camp & under the vehicle the Petzl torches are great, really lightweight, don,t stick out fom your head as much as many & are a really good light. We have an older one with 3 LEDs, & a newer one with just one. We also have a led lenser head torch. This is another great torch, particularly good for 'spotlighting' wildlife, with a very powerful beam when adjusted. The main thing I don't like about the Led Lenser is that the batteries are in a separate compartment on the back of your head. I only find this a problem because I like to use the torch when on my back under the vehicle. All have settings which allow a dimmer light & battery power conservation. I also have a pair of unknown brand (Chinese) LifeP04 handheld torches. Each has a single battery a bit bigger than a AA. Although cheap, (around $50 for 2 torches plus special charger), they are fantastic. Not only are they as bright, if not brighter than the led lenser, with an adjustable beam like the led lenser, a charged battery seems to last forever. Have had them for over a year now, use them quite regularly & have only needed to charge them twice.

I've got the same 75w hid torch in 5000k and it kicks ass! its only down fall is your lucky to get 3 hrs out of it on hi or low setting and you have to recharge the battery can't just throw in some d'cells

Flashlight been on the back burner, but following in TDs footsteps.
Scored a LED Lenser P7 off fleabay for $34, Whoo hoo stoked. Watched them for a while and they were going for anywhere between $40 - $70..... slapped in a bid of $34 with 20 secs to go and thank you very much... Will also get the 75w toaster when got a spare bill.

for around camp you need minimum 350 lumens, Ill put some links
of some of the torches,

You would not be disappointed with either of these torches,
and for under $50 for both its a winner in my eyes,
The top lnk you can by extension pieces to fit extra batteries
but Ive found it perfect as it is. It was recommended to me by Bob.

I also have a 6 cell Mag lite but I think these new gen led torches
leave the mag-lites in the dust. You can convert them to led but who wants a 18" torch
The led lenser P7 is a very good torch as well

A good solid maglight has more than one use 🔨. I upgraded my 6 cell maglight with a drop in LED from the UK. I researched a decent one which would still allow me to adjust the focus of the beam. Works really well and the batteries just last. My mag light lives in the drivers door pocket for now. Never know when it could come in handy.

I am looking at getting another torch specifically for the rifle for walking about so the maglight is a tad big for that. I would want something compact yet can throw as much light to 200m or beyond.
