Back in 2007 my wife and I took my 80 series on an outback trip with our friends in their Mav/Patrol.

The way the winch was set up on the Patrol, the freespool lever vibrated around on the corrugations and fell into freespool so we had to wind it back on.

Great pics buddy, looks like a great trip.
My boss spends a lot of time at the Silverton pub (X Broken hill boy).
He's Good mates with the owner or should I say previous owner, it has recently been sold.

I am an ex-Broken Hill boy too. Born there and lived there until I was 12 and then my family moved to sunny Qld. The house in the photo below (from the first page of this thread) is my great grand mother's old house. It is the one up the top of the hill past the pub on the right. Now an art gallery.

Definitely had lots of fun on the trip even though it did pour down for a lot of it. It was a drought breaker tour for sure.

Thats the one thanks, not the car i was remembering but when i said it flew ( I'm sure that one does 2 ), my mate has competed it a few of the outback challenges, I remember when he was working to the comp car one weekend and i called in to have a beer and he took me for a quick burn, the thing screamed, I remember when got back, he said you think your petrol guzzles the juice, u should of seen this thing suck thru it!

Just outstanding old mate - top series of photos!!! I was particularly interested however in the one of the kangaroo turd ... figure as it was shaped kinda, sorta like a turtle, you decided to take a happy snap of it!!! lolol

Looks like an absolute must do trip - the old man and mum have done it, but I've not gotten around to it yet (did western QLD and most of Northern Territory, but they was 14 years ago) ... thanks for the inspiring photos!!

Hey mate, that is a great trip you did.

Fantastic.

I was up through Mt Dare in September of this year and that pic looks a fare bit different to what it looks like now. They have built a bull nose verandah across the front where i had a beer.

Oh yeah! it had been pissing down for a month or so before we pulled in and it was just a bog getting into Mt Dare. Was a good drive and good fun though for sure.

Didn't head out over the Simpson this trip but may head back up that way in a year of 2.

Thinking of grabbing the 5 year old boy and just doing a dads and son's swag trip over the Simpson. quick trip big kms. rough but sounds great.

Love the pics of the Challenge mate, some very very tidy set ups there.
