Hi all, I have a problem (no not that one) my clutch just started to get harder to push when selecting 1st gear, OK going from 1st to 2nd and then hard for the rest.
Could this be caused by low gearbox oil as I have a leak underneath but everyone said it was engine oil, the engine oil level has not dropped at all.
Have not checked the gearbox oil yet, but will do tomorrow.
HELP

You really should see someone about that 'other' problem, it's not going to get better on its own!

Now the clutch. It seems odd to me that the clutch would be easier to press for the 1-2 shift, but firmer for the others. The only connection the clutch has with the gearbox is the input shaft, so it shouldn't make any difference what gear shift you are doing.
I still say by the color of the oil in the photos you showed us earlier that the oil is from the engine rear main seal.
It is possible that there is now enough oil in the bell housing that it has started to affect the clutch, but the fault could also be in the clutch hydraulics or vacuum booster.
Start the engine to get vacuum, then shut it down and pump the clutch a few times. The first one and a bit pumps should be relatively easy while you have vacuum, but will get firmer after that. Let us know the result.

Still harder than normal when the clutch is pressed and did not change after a few pressing it 2 to 4 times.

If it's making no difference with or without vacuum the it sounds like the problem is related to the booster or vacuum supply to it.

Well after modifying my driving style to suit the clutch issue the brakes decided to go out in sympathy, so for the last couple of weeks I have been driving it with both of those issues.
Got it booked in to see the doctor on Thursday and hopefully they can also stop it from sounding like a Lister Stationary Engine as well.
Will post the results up here as soon as I get it back.
Then it will be out to find some mud for a bit of a play.

"sounding like a Lister Stationary Engine" youcan do this to a modern four stroke motor by lowering the revs and engaging the choke almost all the way on. Favourite trick at work.

Just an update on the Q.
Clutch/brake boosty thing fixed.
Everything checked to find the cause of the "miss" and nothing found so, off with his Head.http://209.85.48.9/1806/9/emo/crybaby.gif

So are you saying you've still got the probs Doggy?

No Plassy not now mate the Q is back in the backyard...... the cause of the miss was 3 dodgy injectors so the head did not have to come off............miss all the noise that it used to make though.http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/
No more black smoke to cover the yuppies with their convertibles, which is a real shame.http://209.85.48.9/html/emoticons/sad.gif
So back to work tomorrow and try to catch up with all the dogs that I have to shear before xmas.:smiley_thumbs_up:
Now to start packing for the move, hate moving as I just have a bad habit of collecting junk.

It appears that one of the injectors are not seated correctly and losing pressure as I have to pump up the system every morning.
My question is, is it going to cause any problems as the mechanic is not back at work until the 10th of Jan and I'm not going to spend anymore money on his stuff up.
I may be going 4WDing on the weekend and don't want to break anything if this is going to be an issue............breaking other stuff is not really a problem.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Send a PM to YNOT or Carfixa. They're both our 'online' mechanics.

Personally, as frustrating as it is, I wouldn't be driving it until the guy that stuffed it up, fixed it up. It gives him an excuse to get out of the 'warranty' work.....IMHO

If you're having to prime the lift pump every morning that means you are getting air in the system some where. Check the fuel filter to make sure it is tight and sealing properly and make sure all the fuel lines are tight. With the engine running crack off then retighten the fuel pipes to the injectors one at a time to make sure they are properly seated also. Check the tension of the other end of the injector fuel pipes at the pump, bit hard to do them with the engine running.

Do you have a fuel leak from pump Wayne? Any diesel under motor on ground or is there any leak tracks down side of pump?

mine goes really hard if you rev the motor in neutral, but runs fine with normal gear changes
