In regards to the tyre size laws, does anyone know what the largest standard or optioned tyre was for 99 gu wgn,,
When I bought mine it was fitted with 265/75/16's I use them on the street but when heading for the tracks I put on 315/75/16 mtz's, I am hopeing somewhere it can be proven that a 285/75/16 was optioned allowing a 315 to stay within the legal guidlines,,,,,,,,

I think 286/75/16 or 305/70/16 is as big as you can go legally

Not 100% if its 2" bigger rims or 1" bigger rims to whats stated on the tyre placard on inside of front door. I run 305s and they are legal but I wanted to run 315
but had just fitted suspenion lift on, still think 315 are legal its the rim size that they frown upon like 16" x 10". As long as you're inside the guard what can they say. look at the Icelander Ziggybuilt 4x4 that are driven ove here on 44"s.
This would mean a DX can legally only run a 7" rim anything over is illegal up from 6" std rims

G&D, 285/75/16 was never optioned on any GU, this is a 33" tyre, standard is a 32" tyre, you can go up to a 33" tyre legally on a 16" rim, further to that you can also go to a 16" -13mm (negative 13mm) rim which will give you a wider track, actual allowance is 25mm in total, -13mm will give you a total of 26mm wider track. Anything bigger or wider is technically illegal, this is really only an issue with insurance as they can become technical on this stuff sometimes, at this stage you can lift your vehicle 50mm or 2" in suspension & appx 25mm or 1" in tyre height, after that technically you are suppose to engineer changes

Threedogs, a DX can run 16 x 8 rims as it was fitted to a GU, you only have to fit flares from a ST or Ti, all part of the range for that vehicle so acceptable for any GU regardless of it being a DX, ST or Ti
