Looking at going out to Tallarook in 3 weeks with a medium level in mind with a stop by the dam for lunch.

Anyone interested, it is a good novice run for those who are unsure.

Ok it will be either the 8-9th dec as I am so stupid I cant remember my wifes 40th the weekend before??

9th of Dec it will be , meet at Murchison look out at the cross road of Murchison spur road and Strath creek road at 9.30am and will be on UHF17

I'll keep that in my diary dude. How your back feeling TD? I had to take today off work as I sneezed this morning and my back went. 10mg of diazapam later and I'm off with the fairies and managed to get myself to the specialist for a morphene hit. Nothing worse than having a screwed back.
But I should be good BA, the wife and kids might even tag along this time.

Thats the great thing about this day out as there is something for everyone and 2 paths can be taken to reach the same point being one hard and the other easy.

I have been taking novices here for the last year and all have loved it and had no problems while being challenged ...

Bloodyaussie
29th November 2012, 06:07 PM
Believe me mate mods do not make the driver...... anyone with an open cheque book can have all the bells and whistles but not be able to drive for shit!!!

That is the great thing about where we are going as I said before, there are hard tracks for those that want a bit more and easy to medium for everyone else and almost all tracks meet back up again.

There are a couple of tracks that are hairy but are very doable for a novice but there is no pressure, if you are not up for it just say and there is no shame.

For all the guys that are heading out on your first off road drive please try and make sure that you have a rated recovery point front and rear of you car at a minimum.

The pin in your tow bar will be fine for the back and a good chassis mounted hook on the front please. Also it's great if you can carry your own 8000kg snatch strap in good condition. Anything else you need someone will have your back but you all should have this.

Have a great trip guys

Bills track has chicken tracks around all the hard bog holes so we can all do that track and if we are lucky we can convince Jim and his D-max to go for a swim for our enjoyment!!!!

I was in arb this morn and saw one there it looked a bit over kill and actually wrapped around the chassis, typical arb stuff though was $255 when I saw the price I put it straight down incase I dropped it. I got one from super cheap today I hope it is suitable as it is only the hook type but rated to 4t I think, I hope it is ok for now, it only cost $21.

Yeah I have a 4T snatchie and this Big arse Black Rat 9Tonner aswell. Even though there are plenty of other with snatchies I like to have a spare incase I break one.
The ARB straps are way over priced, just because its got ARB on it or the pointless neoprene covering jacking the price up...But each to their own I suppose.
As for the plates. TD's plates are sold in TJM and I think I saw them at Guest's in Fairfield. Have a look at the recovery point fitting thread too if your stuck on how to fit them.

You'll be right recoveries are not bull at a gate stuff , Done correctely they border on boring sometimes.
Your front OE hook will be fine for light recoveries I'm sure with BA there to access each recovery you're in good hands.

I have a question though.
I have the ARB Nissan bar on my GQ with the two holes low down on either side of the number plate. I have always used those with rated shackles for recovery. That is ok isn't it? I haven't busted anything or anyone yet....
