Yep been doing it for a while now.. Is a great way to plan a trip and as mentioned it keeps the littles busy..

Can be done anywhere, wether around town or the outback..

Hi. Yep we do it. Use it to break up longer trips, kids enjoy it, and it does get you to some spots that you may never bother with. We actually bought a dedicated Magellan GPS on Amazon but we have friends that just use their smart phone. Have a go.

Been doing it for some 10 years now. A great way to find places you might never go to or think of going to.
Have shifted many registered travel bugs some which have traveled around the world.
I`m a member of two Geocaching sites, one Australian and one global
A great way to learn to use your GPS and also breaks up long boring trips.

Could be good.. Need an object..
A ZD30 piston shouldn't be hard to find.. :p maybe one with those factory holes in them...

Yeah it would be good to get something that everyone could write their username on.

Well lets get it happening! Like the idea of the piston too. Weatherproof, not too big, not too small.

And if it was from a zd30, no one would steal it hahahaha

G'day RB

If you're on the Western Patrol Club forum, there's a few die hards that love it.

Could we use the members map to roughly plan a start place and a journey direction from member to member?

Maybe a similar map set-up could be used to track it too. Everytime someone finds it, they post on the thread and it shows up on the map.

I know Todd would love some extra work! Lmfao

Also, I have another idea. Its not Geocaching, but it would nearly be better in my books.... What about getting an item and trying to pass it from person to person, between forum members all around australia? I reckon that would be cool:)
Try to get as many of the forum members to touch it on the way.....

Sounds like a great idea, maybe include a photo as well and all members signature...when it has finished touring it could be put on display at the Church of Patrology.

Friends of ours did something similar. Took their friends metal dog statue and handed it to friends to take it on trips and while it was away you took pictures of it and after a year they gave it back as a Chrissy pressy with a massive album around its neck..
It went to the USA, France, every corner of aus, Canada... The list goes on..

If we incoperate it and take photos of our fav local spots and make a 'travel database' for others to view and experience our local little hide aways..

sounds like fun, but I don't know my left or right let alone which way is north, south, east and west.

I would have more luck winning 50 million in lotto than ever finding something with a gps!!!

I hear ya and also there would be members that dont have gps/smart phone access. So thats where the second idea could be better. Where we pass an object from person to person (in person), take a photo, share a story, etc and slowly it travels all over the country (and maybe outside australia!?). We could have a dedicated thread to post photos and stories of where you took the object before handing it over to the next person.
