Wow. I suppose for 18 grand you'd have an awesome car. If you can afford it then woohoo! Have you shopped around much? Is 18 grand the best price you can get?

Hey I love the 4.2L too, but 18K is two 3L rebuilds.......that is a lot of miles and/or a lot of time.

Who even knows if you will still have the car by that time......Better off keeping the 18K in your pocket I say.

Wouldnt it be cheaper to sell the car with the zd and put the funds from that plus your 18k on to a factory 4.2??

No haven't shopped around at all.ZD30 has 250,000 on clock.I was just getting a general idea from others should it ever blow up mysteriously..My GU has a body in good nick. Also interior and the 2" Ryder lift kit does the job well.So worth replacing engine if required.Duramax is 25 K.

I will have a TD42 N/A available for sale in approx 1 month. It has done under 60'000 kms. Its almost complete, and suitable for rebuild.

Alternatively, $18k seems a lot when ya can get brand new donks from Nissan for less than that. Do the install yourself, and save heaps.

$18k would buy a 6.5l engine (then install is extra.

IMO, unless you want to fit something completely different like a V8 then I'de stick with the ZD30

I think he meant 18k fitted guys, even then though, 18k would buy you a absolute ball tearer of a GQ TD42 Turbo that has been fully kitted out and you could leave the GU for camping and touring. Just saying.

Thats a lot of money to put in a 2000 model. You will never get you money back. I would put it towards a new GU!
