Bit of a strange one but Google is giving me no answers.

Does anyone have a Coleman Hot Water on Demand?

Can you turn the knob to HOT?

I can only seem to turn it to near the end of WARM which does give hot water but just curious why you can't actually turn it to the HOT section near the end.

I only use it for washing up and showers not coffee's, etc but just curious if they are all like this?

I thought it may have been a child safe thing and tried to push knob in to get it on to HOT but no joy so far...

Hey andy if your water is hot enough to wash and shower in
then thats probably its built in safety control
any hotter may scold you or the unit will cut out because it
to hot
ive got the cube one and if the water is to hot the unit shuts down

With ours, you have to push the knob in and then hold it in the hot position, it seems to be sprung that way, maybe as a safety thing to prevent overheating....

Thanks mate that's it. Need to hold it as it springs back. Every time you push the knob in though you almost push the entire unit off the table...lol

Hiya A.B.

Yeah... I had to ring Coleman a couple of years back about an issue with their stupid adapter for the cookers and we had only had our "On Demand" for a couple of weeks and they were new to the market.

I asked them about the HOT position spring loaded thingy because I nearly tipped the unit over a couple of times making cuppas.

The water temp is goddam hot in that range and the service tech reckoned it is indeed for people safety as opposed to the machine itself and that you can hold it there and not damage the unit as it has other sensors for tilt, over temp, low flow etc.

He reckons the reason it is designed like that (gorilla strength required) is because it means it is a deliberate effort needed and younger kids won't be able to accidently do it. Made sense to me at the time because the water gets incredibly hot very quickly indeed. We have gone back to a kettle for brews and use the Coleman for washing up, showers etc etc so don't use that Hot setting much anymore.

On another point... the after sales service from Coleman was fantastic (for the cooker problems) but I still hate the stupid adapter

So I guess you have to hold the unit with one hand push the knob in to get HOT water with the other and hold the coffee mug with your teeth as you try and pour the cuppa with boiling water near your face....LMAO....Can't wait to try that one!!!
