Hey guys, got layed off yesturday, so going too just throw it out there for any Adelaide based guys that may know of anyone looking for a good worker. Yes im talkin about myself.

Been painting and decorating both commercial and residential for the last 4 yrs and took a lot of pride in what i did and was good at it, but that story is over.

Previous to that i worked for a steel supply Co for 13yrs, sheet and coil steel as well as fencing and roofing steel, had hands on exp with sheeting an slitting machines and despatch, but spent the majority of my time

• Supervision of up to 30 employees
• Job allocation of employees
• Planning and Scheduling of daily Production
• Drafting & implementing procedures
• Planning & Scheduling maintenance
• Liaise with Sales, clients, management & Suppliers
• Purchasing of all consumable products
• Involved in factory re-location / plant layout
• Involved in S.A.B.S (safety assured business systems)

Have completed several courses in management, OHS&W, and others.
A keen, dedicated worker that wont let you down, looking for security in a permanent role but will accept casual employment, and will give almost anything a go, will even go back into painting if it meens having a job, but would like to search other avenues first.

So any of you Adelaide fellas / gals out there if you have any contacts that are seeking employees, Please do not hesitate to contact me, Only through PM or phone for those who have it, those who do should of recieved my new # by now.

Thanks guys / gals, Stay safe.
Cheers Pete

Go and check out the local construction sites and you should be able to maybe pick up bit of labouring to get you through till next year at least.

All the best mate.

Bit off the subject .

Here in ACT we can NOT find anyone to work as a photocopier technician. We are constantly looking for techs and advertise on seek and other sites with no results from Australia.\ Most applicants are from India, Saudi Arabia, etc.
We offer top pay, car, phone, laptop, cooperate super, life insurance and lots of other benefits and no one want to work here.

We don't need experience ,just people to come through the door. This job involves servicing photocopiers and printers so logical troubleshooting skills and a bit of electro- mechanical experience is handy but by all means not necessary as we will provide full training and lots of opportunities.

Its funny how other states are so differnt

wildgu6
24th October 2012, 07:41 PM
Cheers guys / gal, if i was up that part of the world Kris, i'd jump at it mate (training provided) cant go wrong and sounds like a top package too.
As said if i get desperate i dont think i would have too much trouble getting a painting gig again, already an offer from a bank robber lol, and a couple others that will help me out, but painting for the rest of my life mmmmm dont think so. Not enough security in the building / construction industry. I really want somewhere i can settle for the next 10+yrs and retire.

Hang in there Kristofa, life is what we make of it, and we choose our own destiny to a certain point. Stay possitive mate
I use to love SA, but it is fast becoming the worst state in Oz to live IMO

Thats what i love about this place.
Members that are willing to help out others, whether they know them or not.

Had a PM yesturday from a member thats reasonably new to the area, with a job opertunity.
Unfortunately distance was an issue, but not to be dissmissed.

It just gives you hope knowing there are people like this out there only willing to help.
Nice work BG0067 and you to Growler, much appreciated guys.
Other suggestions from Kris, Stephen and Roh' also not to be frowned upon. Cheers guys appreciate the ideas.

Yer the country is selling out, in order for a cheaper product to stay competitive they employ cheap labour, where wages dont match the economy, If they cant get the cheap skilled labour they sell up usually to overseas investers.

The miss's may be getting her marching orders tomorrow too, as the department she works in has been sold to another Co that just wants their contracts, No machinery (thats going overseas) and No people their going out the door. Hopefully they can slot her in another department.

On a brighter note; had an interview yesturday for a position in a steel reinforcing Co, and feeling pretty positive about that one but have to wait till Fri-Mon to find out if successful,

Also got a call from one of the project supervisors of a construction Co we did work for and they were a bit shocked and not impressed by me getting layed off and said they have just scored another couple of big contracts and may be putting on a few more staff soon, If so they will see what they can do for me.
So all's not lost. Stay positive, get your name circulating out there and chase it.

Too true Steve too true. Spent part of the day visiting old manager which will benefit in the long run, IMO anyway. lol it felt like i never left there.
Got some contacts and a few leeds and some possible work if things get desperate.
But dont think it will come to that,,
Also got a call from the interview i went to yesturday. Going for a site walk through (basic induction) tomorrow and if all good start Monday, Whoohoo. $$$ not the best but plenty of O/T on offer,
its a start and it pays the bills for now. Then if i dont like it at least its something and can look for better $$$ while earning.

Hey Pearcey, doing well, Thanks mate.
Yes that was the plan, to stop you going away sooooooo much lol.
Alls good though mate, you can enjoy your journeys again.

Start back in the workforce on Monday, yep scored a job at a steel reinforcing Co. went for an induction yesturday and on the job Monday.
Wages not the best but will pay the bills and they are working 24/7 for the next 6-8 months at least, so plenty of oppertunity for O/T to make up the lost $$$$.
Their big contracts on the go are the new hospital, the southern expressway extension, Adelaide oval.

LMAO the miss's told me to keep the door open for other oppertunities as the production manager and supervisor are 2 of the most arragant sons of b****** i have ever come across, and lol she seems to think i will clash with them. Whats she trying to tell me.

Andy / Mods / Members
Just a thought guys, with the economy the way it is at present.
There are always members looking for employment and likewise businesses looking for employees.
What are your thoughts on setting up a section or even a sticky called EMPLOYMENT,
It could be broken down into sub sections, SA, Vic, Qld, NSW, WA, NT, ACT, Tas
Where guys / gals can post.
A) if they are searching for work and in what field and location,
B) For employers to advertise they are looking for employees,
C) Or just for members to post info / contacts of any work they know is available through someone they know.

We have such a diverse range of members out there, covering such a broad range of fields / businesses in all states.
Surely through word of mouth/advertising on the forum, we might be able to help out some of those members doing it tough out there.
Any other thoughts welcomed.

Cheers Pete

Yep too right Scotty, Where my miss's works has just shut down a department, she might be lucky enough to get transfered,
but others that are taking a pay out are saying they're going to party for a few weeks, then its xmas and not many will be hiring before xmas so where does that leave them. Go figure.
Admittidlly i did the same thing 4 years ago, but learnt a lesson and I did by the patrol with some of the $$$.
Anyway my point is, get your payout and get straight back on the horse, your payout then becomes profit, spending $$$, back up and you dont hit hard times.

To top things off, today I found out I got a big fat pay rise, but I was supposed to get it ages ago but didn't for whatever reason, so was back paid for it all. So I got a job, a very nice little bonus, and a big fat payrise. Finally caught a break!
