hi first time thread starter
not long had a 07 crd 05
notice abit of black smoke out of exhaust once over 1/2 way on the foot does seam to very a bit with rpm and gear
just would like to know if this is normal?
done few things, block egr, installed a cheep egt, change oil, disconnect battery for over 24hrs, clean maf
i got scangauge everythink else seams to be ok.
is there a way of turning down fuel as i see it and think waste of diesel.

Check your intercool hoses, they may be loose ?
Have you got a chip fitted?

If you bury your foot you will get smoke so unless you can't see anyone behind you cos of it I wouldn't worry to much. Also if it's running clean while just cruising along then all sweet but as I said if you plant your foot there will be some black smoke out the back a little bit is ok if it's excessive then I would worry

all tighten the crap out of them still there may have improve slighty still there
feels like theres good power

its only if i over aprox 1/2 way and more rpm the worse
doesn't have to been trouped on
not there when cruising or starting

may look at a some senors

Get a Dyno Tune now you have done all the other mods and get it sorted. It will do your head and and can really only be sorted on a Dyno.

unblocked egr notice looks like more smoke, aswell as voltage to maf down.
re blocked it.

anyone could point me in right direction of dyno tune north side brisbane outer suburs and any ball park figures doesn't sound cheep?

it looks black in the review mirror
but when i follow it looks more brown
when unblocked egr it looked like it came to a stop at a higher rpm just before the changed
sometimes

Allot of the QLD boys are at the National Forum Meetup this week but will be around mate, If you have the gauges and the boost controller then you will probably spend $120 to $150 for the Dyno Tune only and it will sort most of it out for you bud.

I know it's not on the north side but there isn't a great deal of tuners over here. Try mike vine turbo at capalaba I think he is. He has a solid rep and has been in the game for a while. Also you could try roo systems/ amms at banyo these guys can be a hit or miss but if it's a hit generally do a good job. There is northside 4x4 at north likes they are prob alittle dearer than others. And then gympie diesel is very good as well

Would think if and thats if its over fueling your EGTs would rise, when was last oil change and what oil do you use.?
Could be the brand of oil you use>>>>????

unshore which oil its had in it but change it about 1000km ago to mobil 1 5w50 always service by nissan prior
i will have to do search on egt temps for crdsee what other are getting

egt @ 100KM/H 330-430 mostly around 380-400 at 2200 rpm.
I don't drive alot @ 100km/h to see what it does alot

5w50 seems pretty thin, especially in Qld. 10w40 Nissan recommended in my GU. I'm in SA.

@ 100º C 17.5
HTHS Viscosity, @ 150 ºC 4.4

If i remember most 10w 40 cst @100 are between 12 and 14 and not as thick at @ 150 deg c
I was a little concern it was too thick. the engine runs quite quiet.

Hit the biggest hill in my area to day @ 100km/h foot to the floor lod at 99 for about 15, 20 sec boost just under 15 psi
egt 611 deg c just still rising fist run
egt 624 deg c just still rising sec run
good news no more smoke than the other times
second run looked like there was less smoke could be wrong as getting dark

thicker oil less cooling @ same temps but better lube
unshore if thats good enough to have any slight difference to timing

Are they post turbo temp readings? I'd say that is a little high mate and generally 550 is considered the glass ceiling. Take it to a Dyno Tuner i think.

Turn your boost up, it sounds like its lacking oxygen.

egt post turbo
when i took the readings i had my foot to the floor for about 30 sec at 100km (not going any faster as the hill was to steep) hit 600egt fast then slowly rised after that

went for a run to brissy and back the other day @ 100km egt was between 330 -380 mostly 340-360
am keen for a dyno but was keen for a high flow cat and clean ic and may be the throttle body after catch can.
getting fuel around 12.5l/100km/tank.
oil isnt that black on dip stick
been thinking may try castrol mag tech
unshore how turn up boost
it was at 13psi @ idle and 30 psi when driving after not plugging the map once the (fuel ec went way down then) but the ecu shortly sorted all out not going over 14.5psi

Should have no boost at idle and generally 10 psi @ 100k, EGTs are about 200ish
Something not right, do you have DAWES valve fitted??

i have to take note on the boost next time cruising
no don't have them fitted, didn't think i needed to as didnt spike.
did a search on others crd and seem to run hotter than di's

i would be interested why he played with his vnt after blocking his egr.

after doing a bit of research on dyno's think i if i get someone to play with it i will need to find one who definitely know what they are doing with it and just anyone with one.
