What are people's thoughts on the Lokka, if you've installed one?

Had mine for 4 months and happy with it so far.
Certainly a lot less bash and crash.
Steering on harder surfaces is a bit heavier, but I don't mind that so much.
At least you know it is there doing a job.

Haven't noticed the heaviness on sand however. I guess that sand is a bit more forgiving.

Also put in AVM manual hubs because the auto ones were giving me grief and I wanted peace of mind to know it was going to be free when it should be free and locked when it should be locked.

Interested to hear how others have found the Lokka.

When the auto hubs get a bit of wear they start clicking and unlocking when you don't want them to.

Yep that's it.
Click click and the odd clunk when cold.
Has been done on a number of forums.
But seems to be more about the hubs than the locker.

My issues started about June (after having the car from new 2 years ago).

Can't fault the AVM hubs to date and no more clicking issues.

Hi Chambo,

I fitted a Lockrite to my last 4by and now a Lokka in the GU, but can’t really tell any difference between the two. I’ve never had a problem other than the auto hubs being harder to unlock, so manual hubs help there also. Personally I’d always go with an auto locker in the front and I enjoy the ease in which the car gets over obstacles compared to not having one.

Like everyone else, I'm happy with mine and have had no problems, even with the auto hubs. However I do know of a couple of instances where the springs/pins have let go. Considering we have more than a dozen vehicles in the club with them and there have only been 2 failures, not bad odds. Also must say Goannawhere (who supplied them) replaced them with no fuss or hassle. Also know a few guys who disengage one of the free wheeling hubs when the Lokka is not really required but the going is a bit heavy for 2WD

A lokka for the front of a Patrol is $500 and not too hard to fit if you have the tools and some mechanical ability.

I did mine myself and it was the first time I had ever disassembled a front diff... pretty straight forward job but man that diff centre is a heavy MoFo

I bought a lock-right and had it installed by a diff specialist just before Christmas. I have used it a bit now and has completely changed how my Patrol pulls up and through rocks and ruts, probably the best mod I will do.
Have barely noticed its there, on hard surfaced in 4H, the steering tends to return to centre a little quicker that before, dont really notice it as much in 4L as you are usually travelling much slower.
In sand It doesnt make much of a difference as both front wheels usually have the same traction anyway. I have noticed it under steering a couple times since putting the locker in but that was on full lock with a heavy right foot, not noticeable while driving normally
