diff breathers

any one done these on the GU, if so some pointers on how to do properly............as the box i got mine with didnt come witn instructions..............i dont think it should be hard but any help would be great...

Hi mate, basically you find the diff/transfercase/transmission breathers and extend them. The front diff, transfer case and transmission breathers enter into the engine bay along the the passenger side chassis rail. The rear diff breather comes out of the diff and goes into the steel tube straight above it.

Make sure you have a go at the forum search function, i just did and came up with these threads. There is some info there that might be useful to you.

Hi all, I just bought a 4 point diff breather kit from arb. As I had a look at the rear one and could easily see that it needed extending, only prob is I made the assumption that the rest were the same. When I went to install them today I realised the the front diff,transfer and gear box were all up high hidden in the quater panel. My question is are they sufficient and should I take the kit back and just extend the rear one myself or is it worth doing the whole lot.

Id keep the kit and extend the front ones too. Can never hurt to be higher and also have a filter

The factory Air intake sucks out of the front left quarter panel and we put a snorkel on that too ;) so extending to high up on the rear fire wall is a winner. Your then certain of were it is and how protected it is.

I'm using and recommend a hoseless diff breather from Superior Engineering. The advantage of this solution is that it keeps a pressure constants in diff.
It prevents to suck in the water through a seals when the diff is cooled rapidly in water. You can find it here:

As for a gearbox .... the breather is one thing ... but it's important to check the rubber where the shifter is connected to the tranny. If you ride in really deep water there's a problem in most cases. But after crossing a deep water, river or whatever ... it's recommended to check the oil in diffs, tranny and transfer case .. and replace if neccessary ... no matter what type of breathers you use.
