View Full Version : GU Wagon Rock Sliders, Materials and step-by-step guide to build your own

I have just built some bolt-on sliders for my GU wagon.

My sliders sit just off the bodywork and are similar in height to the chassis rails. This allows a little flex and protection.
They are mounted in 3 spots at this stage along the chassis.
I have a couple of final touches to complete the work but figured I'd post this for those who are interested but not sure how to go about it.
I didn't have a bending or notching machine so used a grinder and BIG electric hacksaw.

I have put together a complete step-by-step guide including pictures, tools and materials & important things on what to do as you go along while building your own set.:Yahoo!:
I cannot attach the document as it is 486kB and the text and pics are all justified etc. If I paste the words in, it muddles everything up.

Shoot me an email me if you want a copy of this, I'd be happy to oblige.:1062:
If someone else can manage to get in on here, please feel free to do so.

very nice mate well done and great post. I have just built mine for the gq, nearly identical except I bought 90 deg bends to join the outer bar to the inner and mounted the front slightly different to the chassis.

Well done awsome build guide.
I am thinking of similar but am also thinking of using 1 of mine as air storage tank by making sure all pipes are capped & 1 drill hole to allow air in all pipes just my thoughts as all walls will be minimum of 3mm so should hold 100psi all day long if sealed correctly & fit a release valve incase of
severe damage under pressure.

89gqpatrol4x4 90 degree bends is what I was after but bender was imperial & pipe was metric. Time restraint made angle easier option but mandrel bend was preferred. Rear bar hopefully in few months but available time is hard to find while juggling family & work
