Does anyone have any goss if www.4x4store.com.au (http://www.4x4store.com.au) got sold to anyone or not?

I know they stopped a while back but they have recently cancelled their hosting and the site is completely off air now.

They had a very aged site with very good rankings, shiploads of links to their sites and a very good reputation online (which alone is worth good money) but now that the site is completely off the internet and all that will be lost.

Massive shame for the owners!!!

I wonder what they are asking for the name.

By memory they are history, but don't quote me on that............read something about them a while ago, will try to find it on the weekend...........that's if I remember.

Nah they are history Doggie, if i remember the merchant banking account would not take the risk of their business anymore or they wouldnt loan more money or something like that.

But...The domain name 4x4store.com.au and the sites structure itself is worth money i believe.

I would estimate they could get 10-20k for the name and site but now that they have taken the site offline and if Google penalises the rankings of the site then you can easily half that figure straight away.

They had that posted on their site for a while too but now It's just completely offline. They should never have taken it down because once Google indexes their site again and find that It's down they will loose every single ranking they have built up which is a big shame.

4x4store.id,au
4x4store.net.au
4x4store.org.au

Yeah .net.au might not be a bad one but those extensions are (1) hard to rank high in Google and (2) just don't have a good brandable domain name with those .net's and .orgs.

Domain names are now a multi million dollar investment these days and good names are very hard to come by now.

s.e.x.com (without the full stops obviously sold for millions a few months ago...a lot of people are making squllings with investing in good names.

Easy, we all chuck in a few hundred each. Buy the domain at a bargain price then wait a while and sell it at a profit....told you it was easy:wink:

AB

I was very temptered to get this name but the effort involved in drop shipping parts or trying to compete against your biggest competitor "Ebay" would be hard I think.

Think about Ebay though, Ebay is the best advertising source and selling point, and knowing that the majority of online customer's would check on Ebay for their part at some stage is hard to compete against.

Having saying that, It is one awesome name that is hard to get these days....I just like the name...lol

I have been watching this every so often and I don't think they are getting the bids they are after unfortunately.

Only up to $2000.

Big shame as It's a ripper name to use for Google.

You beat me to it AB.

The two major issues are the .AU for overseas buyers and the way the business went tits up for Aussie buyers IE still selling online even tho it was bust. That made some pretty angry ex clients go very public in their rants.

Yep, I did read a lot of evil slagging of the company on many forums around Australia.

If you read the whole story, you have to feel sorry for the guy who was trying his hardest to keep the business going and make sure everyone was looked after to the best of his ability.

I would rather buy a domain name called pinkfluffywombats.com.au for about $20 and spend $16,180 on marketing and SEO....LMAO

I went through the hoarding stage too but unless you plan to do something with them then the yearly costs add up if you have lots of them.

Do you have any good names???

I'm still hoarding some good old ones...lol
