SD33T has two positions, forward is run, Back is stop.
SD33 NA has 3 positions, forward is start, middle is run and back is stop.
If you remove the linkage, you should be able to feel a slight "detent" at the run and stop position, the stop position may have a slight spring resistance.
If you crank it over and white smoke comes out the exhaust, there is fuel entering the cylinder, white smoke is one of two things, low compression, or un burn't fuel caused by not enough heat during compression to ignite.
A low battery will cause this, as will sad glo plugs or ancient fuel, a squirt of "start ya bastard" or "aerostart" or a very slight sniff of petrol should get it to start (on a rag)
Provided you have bled the fuel system, you have good compression and a good battery, it should start.
Have you messed with the timing? (injector pump).
Have you got all vacuum hoses from the throttle body connected to the injector pump.
How are the fuel filters, tight??
At the base of the fuel primer, there is a gauze filter, make sure that is clean. it's inside the bottom banjo fitting at base of primer pump.
Cheers, the ferret.
