Hi can any one help. Started to get a loud squeaky noise from the turbo charger. Went to my local mechanic. Said the fan blades in the turbo were broken. went to a Garrett Dealer purchased a new Turbo charger for $1100. installed it and the same noise again.
What I worked out is there is a little rubber hose that is connected to the top of the charger, when i pull this hose off the noise stops.
But when I put my finger on the top of this hose it causes a suction... so I gussed this could be a hose sucking air out of the top of the turbo unit....
With a new turbo charger in the vehicle ... and still loud squeaky noise from the turbo.... what could it be ...HELP

Maybe an air leak or exhaust leak check for black soot around exhaust manifold and turbo flange gasket and then check the small air lines from the turbo and inlet piping etc for air leaks .

They expand with heat quite often exhaust leaks and cracks can only be heard when cold as once they heat up the leak closes up.

yes threedogs
got the old turbo took it to a turbo specialist and found out there was nothing wrong... plan to sell it on EBay for $600 and yes its an original Garrett and US made
Do you know any one who would like to buy this working turbo ... much better that any non Garrett turbo. got all the cooling pipes on it too....

Did you get to the bottom of where the noise was coming from. I have the same problem and can't find the cause

Might want to post up an intro before asking questions, no harm done but polite and all.
You may find you have a cracked EGR pipe or warpped manifold, common on ZD30's

Sorry guys forgot to say Hi, so frustrated with this noise, been working on it all weekend and still can't find it.
Noise I have only happens when the actuator opens. Have changed the dump pipe gasket

Not too late and plenty more info in the forum than from the manuals
Highly recommend you stick around, great bunch of blokes IMO

Sounds like exhaust leak near or at exhaust manifold. Possibly blown/cracked gasket or cracked manifold, stuffed turbo base gasket etc. You can't see it because of heat shield. As the engine/exhaust heats up the gap/crack closes up again. Don't discount EGR pipe either.
