Please post in here your experience with the various Optima Batteries. Some people have had good luck with these batteries, stating they have had up to 12 and 15 years use from one.

If you have one, or know of someone who does let us know its good or bad points, I think I will be in the market for one or two shortly. There are mixed reactions about these batteries, but most reports are that they are a great battery, and the prices are around $350.

Its also recommended to charge them with a Ctek Charger, although expensive, they are believed to be able to bring some batteries back from the dead. Although the Ctek charges just about any battery, they are recommended for the AGM Batteries I believe.

Not quite an Optima story but here goes:wink:

Have you looked at the Odysey range, they are a LOT better as far as i know, what i have seen them put through is amazing:bananarock:

A mate ran two of these batterys, he bougt them about 7 years ago, and they are still running strong, and they are smaller than a normal sized lead battyer:wink:

Or there is the Full River brand now, they seem to be a direct copy to the Odysey, range, about the only differnce is the Their casing is Yellow not Red, same specs, they weight the same, they even got in trouble for useing Odysey labels:1087:

Here some specs on them

Hey chops, might be too late to post on this but I've had a Yellow Top Optima for 2 years. Got it as a sealed second battery housed inside the car (not under the bonnet). Performed extremely well in this capacity doing lots of weekend and a few week away type camping while running a small Engel, lights and a stereo.

I've just got a new Patrol and decided to swap out the shitty NRMA battery and just go with the Optima as a single battery for a while. As a starter it has done it's job half a dozen tuimes so far. Fingers crossed.

I already use a small trickle charger that maintains the battery throught the cigarrette lighter plug in the cab (panel sits on the dash and gets enough sun). To give me some backup on the single battery I'll be knocking up a 65 or 80 watt solar charger to take on longer trips.

I'll post again to report on the Optima running as the starter.
