So i just checked my back tires, and they may be road legal, but probably barely. and the mav i bought is still running stock rims. what rim and tire combo do you use? how much did it set you back, and would you buy it again?

I bought 33x12.5 MT 4 rib ATZ's on 15x8 black steel rims, paid just over $1900 for a full set of 5, only done about 4000k on them and so far so good

Will I be right with 33s without a lift until I can afford the lift? :-P

they will more than likely scrub when the suspension is flexing (which they will no doubt do when you have a lift - mine do with a 2 inch lift). mine rubbed on the front mudguard bracket on full lock to lock, so have removed the front mudguards for the moment

Think I might go lift, then tires, then rims

I would go with on of the above options i bought some bfg km2's (285/75/r16) with some neg 13 alloys and these were 625 a corner

what size rims do you have on there now? are they 15x7's? If so, if you stick to a 33x10.5 or equivalent, you wont need new rims.............. if you go to a 33x12.5 or equivalent youll need to go to a minimum 0f 8in wide rim

If ya stick to a 2 in lift, should cost you around the 1k few hundred more if you get them fitted

When I was looking at doing mine, just over a year ago, I got quoted a smidge over 1300 for ome's fitted...... But I picked up some 2nd hand hardly used (seriously) for 400and fitted them with the help of me mate.

Pays to be patient and shop around, you may well score a bargain

Shop around mate springs are normally about 200 a pair in a 2" and then shocks maybe 250 a pair so you should get the gear for around the 900 mark.

Clunk. I went a to my local tyre power this afternoon to buy the same MT ATZ as you and was told that I needed to go to a 15x10 as an 8 was to narrow and would not be legal...

Well that tyre place was full of shit and you shouldn't go back there. An 8" rim will actually hold onto the bead better than a 10" at low pressures. 95% of people out there with 12.5" wide tyres use an 8" rim.

Not sure where they got tht info from, i've been told that apparently MT say should be 8.5 but I've yet to check it out for myself and the guys at the 4wd place say 8 is no problem (they all run tht size) ..................

Also seems a bit odd that its not illegal to run a 10.5" tyre on a 7" rim......... maybe someone who knows more can shed some light on the subject

Yes that would be handy if someone could shed some more light. 1/2 an inch is not a lot. Really only 6 mm either side of the rim. And yea the Mickey Thompson catalogue he showed me said 8.5 to 11 inch rim
Thanks

This is what I thought!!! I've read heaps of threads on hear and magazines and thought I'd be fine with an 8 inch rim! I think I'll take your advice and not go back there!!

Get some 2nd hand GQ Ti rims from the wreckers sand blast powder coat what ever colour you want and whack on a set of 285/75/16 MT MTZs, chicks did it LOL

If you powder coat them make sure you put silver paper where nuts go and around centre inside edge.

Not 100% sure wouldn't think so, why do you need off set, does it rub? wouldn't think so looking at the pic. extra stress on bearings the wider the off set.

I think the ti gq rims are neg 14 they are 16's 8 inch wide and apparently ok with a 285 75 16 wich is like a 33 11.50 15 tyre but with a 315 they scrub when flexing.
I have some 285 75 16 t/a's i am going to be trying soon on my ti rims.
