Hi everyone ,
I have a TB 45 with timing issues , it seems that I cant retard the timing as it always Runs advanced with the engine pinging when on petrol ( gas also fitted no timing issues when on gas ) , it has been to two workshops but returns still pinging they tell they cant retard it enough , this leeds me to think it maybe related to the distributor its self , maybe the crank angle sensor or like , if anyone has had this sort of problem I would be greatfull for any ideas ,
Regards ,
Gary.

Hmmmm ... dual fuel timing balance is a challenge, as LPG wants more and fuel wants less ... that said, what is the mechanical advance on it now?? Would seem odd to be the dizzy ...

Where are you based? If in brissy I can suggest someone to have a gander at it for you cheaply, but if not, others may have suggestions of where to go also - it is something that shouldn't be hard to figure out for an LPG specialist mechanic ...

Hope you have some luck with it mate. I've just gotten rid of LPG completely due to the constant compromise of tuning between the two fuel types ... couldn't be more pleased with the result truth be told ...

Gas research old mate ... wasn't injection (old school type I had that just spat it into the intake manifold through a gas carb).

Injection is the way to go boss ... that said, it still has the same issues regarding timing etc ...

If its set right it will be mate, but you'll never get optimum efficiency of either system with the engine needing to be tuned for two separate fuels unless you install an ECU that can control both systems (i.e. electronically control timing advance and curve, injection rates, etc for both systems independently). I was getting 15.25 litres per hundred on petrol previously when dual fuel on a stock standard engine - I now have large injectors, high performance fuel pump, new ECU etc and no LPG and am averaging 15.9 lph on the open road with nearly double the power and more than double the torque ...
