G'day,
has anyone managed to make a gearbox quieter?
My G/B is 400k old, and fairly noisey,as you would expect. Occasionally falls out of 3rd when going downhil with no load. I can live with that . I would be interested in any remedies for a noisey box though.
Its the usual noise you get when in gear and running low revs/speed.
Thanks fellas.

is the box getting hot?
you could try some different grade gear oils, i hafven't had much experience with different oils so i can't recommend anything.
Is the oil in the box still nice and clean and smells normal?

Is it the gearbox or the transfer case? You will get noise from your transfer case at low speed/revs.
