Looking to run a USB extension from the back of my head unit into the centre console for playing music from the old iPhone which will be left in the console.
Also wanna have a 12V socket in there for charging the new phone, having the phone charger plugged into the stock socket gets in the way and the new phone is too big to sit in the cup holders.

Got no idea how I'd mount them in the console without looking retarded... would be interested in ideas or pictures if anybody has done this.

Shouldn't the phone charge if It's plugged into the USB on the stereo?

Yeah but I wanna play music through the USB on the old iPhone (might as well just be an iPod now), and just charge the new phone.

You know what would be cool...Use the two pen holders on the console as the two phone holders. Take the pen holder bit out, cut out the bottom part of each of the holders and make them deeper. Not sure if they would fit or not but that would look pretty neat!

Run the cables under the carpet to the console and have the plugs just come out of the pen holders maybe....

I got the same set up as you Kristoffa but without the cup holders in the middle. Electric Windows are cool:)

G'day Tweaked, I can't see a link in your post?

Kris, if there isn't room for a surface mount female ciggy plug, you can get female ciggy plugs that do not need to be surface mounted, they just go onto the end of the wire - like a house extension lead. You could just let that rattle around in your console.

You'd think there would be surface mounted ciggy and USB female plugs available - maybe that is what Tweaked is keeping us in suspenders about :-)

That looks nice and neat Tweaked. What is the max amp draw through it combined? Would it be safe to simply beef up the original fuse for the ciggy lighter or would it be better to re-wire it in?

You can use something like this

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/USB-3-0-Plug-Socket-Clipsal-Wall-Plates-Female-Connectors-/370601636823?pt=AU_Components&hash=item56499433d7

Or jaycar sell the socket for wall plates seperate if you want to wire it up yourself.
I want mine for powering usb crap so will be buying one like tweaked pictured eventually they look neat.
I like this one http://www.baintech.com.au/baintech/baintech-dual-usb-socket-flush-mount
