Has anyone had the expirence of converting thier Patrol to the Rhino Buggies hummer replica?

Don't get me wrong, I respect the power and reliability of the suspension, diesel engine and the chassis of the patrol but dislike the body. Besides why pay 110K's for an American product when for about 35-40ish you can have an Australian product where parts and servicing are available everywhere in Australia. The people who are doing it are some of the major mining companies. They are converting their patrols as the bodies rust out in about 5 seconds, hummer conversion is galvanized steel. The replica is of the H1 not the piddly H3 sold by holden.

I suppose everyone has different tastes but you won't get a more beautiful beast then a Patrol...hhaha

Heaps of conversions have beenrgistered in NSW. They're registered as re-bodied chassis but the rego sticker says nissan patrol and I've spoken with several insurance companies who will gladly take my money.

If I wanted a Hummer, I would have bought a Hummer.

Also, IIRC someone is making fiberglass Patrol body panels. No rust - ever!

Nah............. Not my taste in 4x4 looks but I do admire the work that go's into that sort of thing.

Still if you have a good chassis that's been in a roll over, why not re-body it with that set up, makes a tough truck look even more tougher!!

I seen one of these and have to say they look very impressive (guy from portland owns it) especially with a h1 4 door ute body on it and rolling on what looked to be 37" or 38" inch treps

although it may be for looks I doubt the owner would use it off road, panels for it would cost a fortune!

seems to me that you spend all that money on conversion and lose big time when you sell it

have you had a good look at them?? The patrol chassis wheel base and track etc is a lot smaller in dimension than the H1, the ones I have seen look weird - a bit like the mahindra that kind of looks like a willys jeep but not quite...something just doesn't click for me when I look at them. How could you not love the svelt stream lined brick like body of a GQ???

If my GQ ever rusted out, I think i'd do it. The H1 is the best looking one, for my money, but the actual hummer is a piece of sh!t. I think they look pretty good, but my taste has been questioned often, so thats nothing to go by.

Depends how much it was, I guess, but you can get a decent petrol GQ for under $5k and a decent diesel one under $10k but the GU's i've looked at (admittedly in car yards) were up in the 30's and I really don't like the look of the GU's.

i would build a blizzard if i had the money and time. I think they all can llok really good if the owner gets the wheels right, they need big wide chunky, large offset wheels and they looks sweet, alot of people get that wrong.

I guess I have to jump on that bandwagon, GQ all the way :)

Was wondering though, just skimmed through the pictures and didnīt see it. How is the interior, I know that the interior in the original H1 is rather funky, room wise

Hi Samang
I Just bougth a beautiful Hummer/patrol 2007 from a Sirian Guy and although I didnt know that it was a converted Nissan Latrol into a Hummer I can tell you I am happy with it. Amazing good looking car, strong and reliable. Powered with V8 Holden... It's a beast!
I'v got frustrated when I knew that I didn't bought an original Hummer but actually it looks even better than the original one exept for the poor interior which doesn't matter that much by the "military porpoise".Believe me... Worth it.
I Paid 31k and I am making a few improvements with another 3k. Love it!
My car is registered as a Hummer H2 but it have an H1 body.
You are welcome to call me if you want.
Cheers

Hi Festu,

I am from the Philippines. There's a shop here that builds replica Hummers

My dad's unit is an MK (SD33T) running chassis, mounted with hummer replica body

We got the running chassis from a wrecker and the body from a shop in Manila

Thanks, have called number and no longer a number, email bounces back and website down. I read somewhere that he is now working from home. Thought someone might know how to get in touch or where to get a body.
