Hi All,

Has anyone carried out a HID / Xenon conversion on their Nissan Patrol GU 6?

Please advise if so.

Thanks.

I haven't converted the headlights but have changed my IPF spotties to 50W HID.
Well worth it in my opinion

I think someone here would have done it though

Here is a post I found on te exploreOz forum

It seems that in NSW you can make these modifications to your vehicle without requiring a permit or engineers cert.... cool...

In regards to the HID kits themselves, here are some links to suppliers:

Handy link but this bloke is waaaayyyyyy overpriced.

You should not have to pay more then $120 for a 55W kit.
Hee is trying to charge $350 reduced from $1100:confused:

I fitted a set to my 2003 GU III it must have the clear lens and be adjusted lower then the standard but they are amazing so bright and have had no one flash me and asked truckies and others over the uhf if it is to bright and all have said its fine.
I used the jaycar electronics h4 kit witch is plug and play really good product at a fair price $149.00 for what you get i would recommend it to anybody that dose night driving it also has a warranty

If you're scared of the dark, give this bloke a try. He's known as Jet-6 on other forums.

mailto:matt@thumpainc.com

He does a lot more than just HID kits. LED interior lights, LED worklights, LED and HID torches etc etc.

If i was to do it again i would go with a Aussie suplier at least, i tryied a number of differant Chinese ones, and it is VERY hit and miss:confused:

The main trouble i had was Dead Balasts, every time i order i had a Dead one, and they are next too no help, mind you though i did get the 3 kits cheaper than 1 from some of the local blokes:049:

But to answer the original Q's, it's well worth to upgrade you're spots, but be prepared for a Canary when the Coppers see them in you're main lights:icon_victory:
